About the Consular Association in Wales
We are a vibrant association representing Honorary Consuls from across the world who are based in Wales and exists to bring its members together in close and friendly co-operation, for the promotion and protection of their mutual interests.
The Association is opened to Career Consuls, Honorary Consuls and Consular Agents officially appointed.
Objectives of the Association
Our Association is not for profit. Our constitution lists our objectives as:
Acting as a link between members of the Association and the National Assembly for Wales and the Welsh Government. • Providing liaison arrangements between members of the Association and public and private bodies in Wales, including local authorities, local health boards, local universities and other statutory and voluntary bodies in Wales.
Our Consular group reflects a very broad range of experience, and the resources which its members can mobilise are used particularly to benefit the communities of Wales. Our members believe they are a resource which can be used very effectively in the development of economic and cultural contacts, both at the European level and in the wider world.
Administration of the Association
Our Executive Committee counts nine members elected every year at our AGM. It comprises the President, the Vice-President, the Honorary Secretary, the Honorary Treasurer, and five other Committee members. The President and the Honorary Secretary convene the meetings of the Association, and with the Vice-President, deal with its relations with H.M. Government, the National Assembly for Wales and the Welsh Government, the Local Authorities, and other public bodies. The Executive Committee can also form sub-committees in any area of its activity.
